OpenAI Approves First Insurer-Built AI App on ChatGPT

OpenAI has approved an AI-powered insurance application from Tuio, a Spanish digital insurer, making it one of the first insurer-built apps available directly within ChatGPT. The app is powered by Waniwani's AI infrastructure and allows users to receive personalized home insurance quotes through natural conversation - no forms, no intermediaries.
A new distribution channel for insurance
The app conducts natural conversations to gather the information needed and delivers real-time quotes from regulated carriers. For the first time, AI can access real offers, quote on behalf of the buyer, and compare coverage in real time.

Why this matters
A 2025 study found that 33% of U.S. adults have already used ChatGPT for financial advice. As consumers increasingly turn to AI assistants for product discovery and purchasing decisions, being present in these conversations becomes critical for insurers and financial services companies.
Juan García, CEO of Tuio, emphasized that this positions them "at the point of discovery" for converting new customers. Rather than waiting for consumers to navigate to traditional comparison sites or broker portals, the insurance product meets them exactly where they are already asking questions.
Beyond ChatGPT
Similar apps have already been adopted by Anthropic's Claude, and implementations on Google's Gemini are expected soon. Waniwani's infrastructure makes it possible for any insurer or financial services company to be present across all major AI platforms.
This represents a fundamental shift in how insurance products are distributed - from traditional web search and comparison sites to AI-native experiences where the product comes to the customer.
